Turnbull Report - opportunities for better management of corporate reputation

The Institute of Chartered Accountants Working Party on Internal Control led by Nigel Turnbull marks  a watershed  in risk management, putting risk firmly on the corporate agenda. The combined Code on Corporate Governance which is proposed focuses upon:

The protection of shareholders' investment and company assets (including reputation) through sound systems of control

The initiation of regular reviews of effectiveness of controls and specifically on finance, operations, compliance and risk management

the need for companies to regularly review the need for an internal audit function, where one is not present.

Turnbull does not advocate 'zero risk', but rather a healthy level of ''controlled risk'', through maintaining awareness  of changing environmental threats and opportunities.

A structured management system can help to control your risk exposure.
